As McLaren driver Lando Norris crossed the finish line under the lights in Abu Dhabi, the longest-ever F1 season ended with his team on top.

During the post-race interviews, Former F1 champion Nico Rosberg called the season, “One of the most thrilling F1 seasons of all time.”

F1 writer Daniel Valente wrote about how “special” the season was in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

However, the enthusiasm for the 2025 F1 season is already heating up.

McLaren clinched the constructors’ championship after 26 years. Jubilant over the radio, Norris told his team, “It’s been a special year; next year is gonna be my year too.”

The 2025 F1 season also marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the championship.

On the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Rosberg and F1 content creator Tom McCluskey said, “If we think 2024’s going to be good, then surely, 2025 is going to be unbelievable.”

The excitement around the 2025 season can be attributed to various factors. Chief of which is the expected level of competition for the two championships.

In 2024, Red Bull Racing came firing out the blocks. They won seven out of the first ten races in the season. However, the competition began closing the gap to the leaders.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen largely controlled the drivers’ championship throughout the season. However, a charge from Norris in the second half unsettled the defending champion.

Upgrades from McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes put Red Bull on the backfoot, and no team had an insurmountable advantage. While McLaren emerged victorious, the constructors’ title was not decided until the final race.

For the fans, this drastically improved the next season’s prospects. F1 podcaster Matt Gallagher posted on X.

Another heavily anticipated factor in the 2025 season is the arrival of fresh talent on the grid. Four new drivers will be making their debut as full-time racers next year.

The prospects are Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes, Oliver Bearman at Haas, Gabriel Bortoleto at Kick Sauber, and Jack Doohan at Alpine.

All four racers have impressed in Formula 2, with Bortoleto winning this year’s title. Doohan also performed well, securing third in the 2023 F2 championship.

Bearman is already a point scorer in F1, having driven for Ferrari and Haas as a substitute this season.

However, it is 18-year-old Antonelli who has the most expectations on his shoulders. He is the only rookie with a drive in a race-winning team and is replacing 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Antonelli is known for his incredible raw pace and aggressive racing style, with team principals comparing his trajectory in motorsport to champions like Verstappen and Hamilton.

With a new batch of incredible fresh talent and competitive top teams, the 2025 Formula 1 season is poised to be the most entertaining and engaging championship in motorsport history.
