The rapper was reportedly bleeding from the mouth as he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving in hospital.
American rapper Jared Anthony Higgins, known professionally as Juice WRLD, was reported dead on Sunday in Chicago.
Higgins was celebrated for his singles ‘Lucid Dreams’ and ‘All Girls Are the Same’. The twenty-one year old rapper suffered a seizure at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, where the Chicago Police Department reported he was found ‘bleeding from the mouth’. Although conscious, he died shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital.
Law enforcement sources have reported that Mr. Higgins took ‘several unknown pills’ on the flight before landing in Chicago. Mr. Higgins has previously spoken about his past experience with drug abuse.
This saddening report has unfortunately not been uncommon for young musicians in the past few years. Juice WRLD’s death follows the deaths of two high profile musicians; Mac Miller in 2018 and Lil Peep in 2017, both of whom died due to overdose on unknown pills.
Higgins was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He gained notable success in the music industry for his songwriting skills and ability to weave together multiple facets of the rap genre, from emo-inspired compositions to classic hip hop beats.
Since his death was announced on Sunday, tributes have poured in for the platinum-certified rapper.
Juju Smith Schuster; an American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and friend of Juice WRLD, tweeted that he “got me through so much in life & the fact that he’s not here anymore kills me” alongside a video of him dancing on stage at a JUICE WRLD concert.
This man got me through so much in life & the fact that he’s not here anymore kills me. Felt like yesterday when we were backstage talking about video games and you playing death row on a PSP. Thank you for all the great memories. Rest Easy King Juice. ❤️ #rip @JuiceWorlddd pic.twitter.com/CdUD8FoE9L

Drake has also paid his respects to the musician. He posted an Instagram picture of Juice WRLD with the caption “I would like to see all the younger talent live longer and I hate waking up hearing another story filled with blessings was cut short ?.”
